Last Thursday at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, the vessel Olterra was launched. It's the first unit of the SDO-SuRS (Special and Diving Operations – Submarine Rescue Ship) programme destined for the Italian Navy.
This represents a significant milestone, not just for T. Mariotti S.p.A. - Shipyard, as the Olterra marks their first military construction, but for the entire Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A. group.
Gerolamo Scorza is proud to be contributing to this complex and strategic project, having completed all the ship's internal living areas: from the cabins and canteen to the gym and the on-board NATO Role-2 hospital. This hospital is a true flagship for medical assistance at sea, with a dual function: to assist the crews of stricken submarines and to serve as a mobile rescue unit, providing support around the world when needed.
This achievement is a testament to the company’s design and construction capabilities, combining technology, craftsmanship, and operational precision in one of the most advanced projects in the military naval sector.
